| FS2004 Midnight Vampire Concept Mod |
 This is the "heavy / fully loaded" version of the "Vampire" concept aircraft. With it you can test the placement of various load outs, for arms, and fuel, in handling, for flight and landing conditions. With the counter-rotating, through shaft, four row, radial engines, (possibly designed for -no- valve, 2-cycle diesel), and the dual shortened twin lift wing configuration, this aircraft can do a lot of things very well. The two specified engines are rated at 2500 hp each, and do an admirable job for the demonstration, but keep in mind that this piston driven HP can be scaled up far beyond the efficiency loss of the seven total counter rotational blade setup (seven blades for reduction of harmonic vibration stress), to similar craft.  FS2004 Dornier 128-6 D-IBUF - "the unfinished" - in its current TU Braunschweig layout. Detailed Gmax rebuild with completely instrumented flyable VC though with FS2002-style levers and unfinished interior. Just about all that moves on the real thing moves accordingly here. Further improved flight characteristics using the FS2004 turboprop model now featuring properly flat-rated PT6A-110 engines. Treat this bird nicely and it will treat you well also. Disregard its few limitations - then look out. This project can only be finished if currently disappeared Gmax design partner Antonis "Anthony" Konstantinidis reappears again (the detailed outside texturing is also by him). | FS2004 Arrow Supersonic 1/3 Flight Model |
 This high performance version of the "Arrow" has two 500 lb thrust engines to allow it to reach Mach under the correct conditions (downhill, low altitude, and with a tailwind). As a result, the handling is touchy during some transitional speeds (300 - 450 knots.) This (unfortunately) is about typical for this size and mass aircraft, especially close to super sonic speeds. Interesting teach however. Speed has its price. The parameters are not that restrictive on this bird, they just get there sooner. Full back with -no- flaps to take off, I would recommend 2. 5 deg. up trim, and you may need to cut the engines to land easier than by using the spoilers (for descent). Speaking of which, the flaps also control the air inlet to the engines on the model (full flaps, unrestricted airflow). 450 mile range is optimistic when the fuel gauge drops like it has a hole in the tank at full power, but you can get some place else at 250 knots, at half throttle! The engines could be of a home-build / PDE afterburner type (see attached j pegs also), but I would recommend a standard turbine for this typical thrust adaptation range. The bypass fan of the slower Arrow is a great, cheap, engine, just not structured to produce the kind of pressure required for these speeds. This kind of thrust / speed also accounts for the extra -estimated- EW mass of 800 lbs. (most very likely more). By Kevin Espeseth. 4.5 mb |
