AF Scrub XB-19 |
The Douglas XB-19 was the largest airplane in the world when it first flew in 1941. It was intended to carry a 36,000-pound bomb load for 2,000 miles. The purpose of the XB-19 project was to test the flight characteristics and design techniques associated with giant bombers. Despite advances in technology that made the XB-19 obsolete before it was even completed, the Army Air Corps felt that the prototype would be useful for testing. After completion of testing, the XB-19 served as a cargo carrier until it was scrapped in 1949. 6.5 mb |

AF Scrub P-6E Hawk for CFS2 |
CFS2 version of AF Scrub Curtiss P-6E Hawk biplane fighter. Curtiss-built biplanes that equipped fighter units of the Air corps and Navy during the 1920's and 30's were inspired by the air racing during the early 1930's. The most famous of the Hawks was the P-6, first flown in 1929. The P-6E had a modified fuselage, single strut landing gear with stylish wheel fairings and a 700 hp engine with Prestone cooling. A total of 46 production P-6E's were delivered to the three fighter squadrons, the 17th, 33rd and the 95th. The last eighteen P-6E's were retired from the service in 1939, mostly donated to flying schools as non-flying training aids. 8 mb |

F. Giulli SAI SS4 fighter |
Yes, it's a canard fighter! The very first one to be built. It was among the most innovative warplanes of its time. Of all-metal construction and powered by a 960hp liquid-cooled Isotta-Fraschini Asso XI R.C.40 engine driving a threebladed variable-pitch pusher propeller, the S.S.4 had a proposed armament of one 30mm and twin 20mm cannon. 4 mb |

Grushin MAI3 |
Grushin MAI3 for CFS2 by: W. Dickens, Peperez, Kelticheart et al. Born in 1906, Grushin worked on various aircraft at MAI. In 1935 he began scheming a tandem-wing aircraft, thinking this could form the basis of an attack aircraft with a rear gun turret. The single example of the Sh-Tandem (Shturmovik-Tandem) was constructed in the Institute's production training school. It was exhaustively tested by P M Stefanovskii from 5th December 1937. The key feature of this aircraft was that it had a main wing and a rear wing with 45 per cent as much area.
