| CFS2 Catapult Tutorial |
 A short tutorial on making any aircraft carrier/prop aircraft into a true catapult combination. This is an adaptation of GreenGhost's Gauge by Klausreiss to use Peter Dowson's FSUIPC.DLL for a CFS2 Catapult for aircraft carriers. I just did the testing and package assembly for the download. I have tried to make it as simple to understand as possible. If you need assistance, contact me by email. The examples included here refer to the carrier USS_Sicily50 by Collin Glendinning (available at: https://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2shipyard.htm) and the aircraft DB_F4U4B_Corsair(my modification of DBolt's F4U-1C with Keltiheart's skin). | CFS2/FS2002 PA-48 Enforcer |
 With new ideas of how to keep the P-51 Mustang alive in 1968 and in service, the long-standing workhorse Merlin V-12 was replaced with a turboprop. This mod was not funded by the USAF, but by Cavalier. The new modification was called the Turbo Mustang III. Later, Cavalier sold the project to Piper. The Enforcer had little in common with the original P-51 and it was flight tested in April 1971. The USAF, under pressure from Congress, did order two prototype PA-48 from Piper. | Dornier Do-17z-7 Kaus I |
 Dornier Do17z-7 Kaus I Night Fighter.The last few production Do-17z were made as Night Fighters. The glazed nose was removed and replaced with a custom built solid one, carrying three 7.92 mm MG 17 machine guns and one MG FF cannon, as in the Ju-88c. Extra range was by placing fuel tanks in the bomb bay. With light armament and no extra night detection equiptment only one z-7 was built. The skin is of R4 HK 2./NJG 2 Avion Fr November 9 1940. | Dornier Do-17z-10 Kaus II FuG 202 |
 The Dornier Do17z-10 Kaus II Night Fighter Telefunken FuG 202 Radar.The last few production Do-17z were made as Night Fighters. The glazed nose was removed and replaced with a custom built solid one.The armament was upgraded over the Kaus I, and the crew could reload the 20 mm cannons internally. This Z-10 was equipt with the Telefunken FuG 202 Radar detection system. Extra range was by placing fuel tanks in the bomb bay. Only nine Z-10s were completed and served for less than two years in the night fighter role, where it was used in Josef Kammhuber's defensive system, known as the Kammhuber Line. | Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3 gunpod version |
 The MiG-3 was the result of the program to improve the MiG-1. From February 20, 1941, a new version with two further 12,7 mm UBK guns on under-wing pods with 145 rounds each was produced. The new addition revealed itself unsatisfactory, as the weight increase of about 150 kg, deteriorating the flight characteristics of the aircraft. The firing at high g manouvres was imprecise due to torsion flexing of the wings, so the most of the gun pods were removed when the aircraft arrived at the units. 821 examples with 5 guns were produced through July 27, 1941. | Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-3 early version |
 The MiG-3 was the result of the program to improve the MiG-1. The MiG-3 was primarily built around a steel tube frame with duralumin skin. The new ship was visually similar to the MiG-1, but the engine was moved forward 4" to change the center of gravity, the dihedral of the outer wing was increased 1 degree to improve stability, the airframe was strengthened, the height of the aft fuselage was reduced for better pilot visibility, the radiator fairing was moved forward and enlarged. To increase operational flexibility, a 55 gallon fuselage fuel tank was added along with four wing hardpoints. These allowed the MiG-3 to carry 440 pounds of bombs or 6-3.2 inch RS82 rockets. Pilot survivability was increased by the addition of 9mm seat armor and all fuel tanks were surrounded by inert gas to reduce the chance of fire or explosion due to battle damage.The MiG-3 was ordered into production in December 1940.Model file, airfile, DP, and textures by Thicko. | Brandenburg W-12 Floatplane Fighter |
 It was a development of Ernst Heinkel's previous KDW design, adding a rear cockpit for an observer/gunner,and had an unusual inverted tailplane (which instead of standing up from the fuselage, hung below it)in order to give an uninterrupted field of fire.
