FS2004 Viking DHC6-400 Twin Otter |
The worldwide demand for refurbished Twin Otters is such that Viking Air have commenced manufacture of new aircraft in their plant in Calgary, using original DeHavilland jigs and tools. The new manufacture -400 model is externally identical to the -300 but has a Honeywell "glass cockpit" avionics suite. Freeware Honeywell gauges were not available so Garmin avionics are used in this model. The launch customer is Zimex Aviation of Switzerland and first delivery is expected in September 2009. Full package for FS2004 with five liveries, including authentic Zimex Aviation livery. By Jean-Pierre Brisard, Barry Blaisdell, Kevin Pardy and Bob May - Premier Aircraft Design. 20 mb |

FS2004 Polikarpov I-16 Rata |
When the tiny I-16 flew for the first time in December 1933, it was far ahead of any other fighter design in the world, featuring retractable landing gear, a cantilever wing and variable pitch propeller. When the Spanish Civil War broke out, almost 500 were put into service with the Republicans, surprising the enemy with outstanding maneuverability, firepower and rate of climb, leading to the opposition nickname Rata (Rat) and friendly name Mosca (Fly). FS2004 S.T.A.R. Flight Test Prototype |
Flight Test Prototype A \"shooting star\" for the 4th of July! This aircraft is the flight test prototype for the militarized version being presented in a couple of days. The concept of forward sweep wing has a number of advantages in flight, including better maneuverability, stealth, and stability in slow flight. The double wing format provides reduced \"wobble\" on the wingtips, allows the wing thickness to be minimized, and creates an effective 4\' thick wing for slow STOL flight (especially when power is applied with flaps and spoiler deployed). 25 knts @ 2 fpm descent! The flight characteristics are approximated, but they are fairly close to the real world craft. Yes, the elevators conflict with the rudder, but that would be corrected with a simple notch in the rudders. This craft is significantly better in performance in all areas than craft presented before, but requires a bit more advanced ability in its construction. This configuration has two 50 HP prop/ducted fan engines, but it is light enough for small jet / PDE. If you increase the HP (in the cfg file) remember to increase the empty weight as well. I would expect the plane to remain flight stable to 400 knots. By Kevin Espeseth. 1.2 mb |
