[Display]
BLOOM_EFFECTS=0 // Disable light bloom for now to test. You can try to enable it after everyhing else is set up and tested. It will be the last item to work with after all else is tweaked
TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=240
UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=28 // Please lock it @ 28 with the rest of these settings to test and this value should always be balanced with the hardware and sliders. The only exception was with photo scenery which tends to run better on unlimited frames with certain hardware.
[Main]
DisablePreload=1 // recovers major memory by not preloading the default flight
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.33
[SCENERY]
LENSFLARE=1
DAWN_DUSK_SMOOTHING=1
IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=5
[TERRAIN]
LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
MESH_COMPLEXITY=100
TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=25
AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5
DETAIL_TEXTURE=1
MESH_RESOLUTION=21 (set it to 19m in the scenery settings unles you use 10m mesh such as FSGenesis, with 10m mesh set it to 22 (10m slider))
WATER_EFFECTS=4 // any higher is a waste until DX10 is released
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=1800 // FS9 = 600 @ full Autogen slider
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1200 // FS9 = 300 @ full Autogen slider
[TrafficManager]
AirlineDensity=50
GADensity=30
FreewayDensity=15
ShipsAndFerriesDensity=25
LeisureBoatsDensity=25
The FSX aircraft are not correctly mip-mapped and because of that traffic creates a huge hit on resources. Once the system is smooth you can try raising AitlineDensity a but however using a replacement AI fleet will allow the traffic sliders be raised to a more reasonable value such as 80-85%
[BufferPools]
PoolSize=5000000
Drivers:
AF=16x
Anisotropic Mip filter optimization = ON // this will revert to OFF when HIGH QUALITY is set
Anisotropic sample optimization = ON // this will revert to OFF when HIGH QUALITY is set
AA =4x
Conformant texture clamp = use hardware
Extension limit = OFF
Force MipMaps = none
Gamma correct AA = ON
Hardware Acceleration = Single Display Performance mode
Ignore open GL error = ON
Negative LOD BIOS = CLAMP
OpenGL threading = AUTO
Texture Filtering= HIGH QUALITY (set this to QUALITY until you make the other settings in this list and save them, then set to HIGH QUALITY and resave)
Transparency AA = OFF
Trillinear Optimizationfiltered=ON
Triple Buffering = ON
Vertical Sync = use 3D Application
Try the above and see if it makes a difference. What you are looking for is consistant frames and as you decend into a populated busy area, maintaing smooth operation. Forget about the frame rate (leave it off) and focus on how it looks and feels. The frame counter robs the sim of 3-4 frames of performance when it is displayed and is off by as much as -5 frames. @ 18, its actually about 22-24.
