Yes it takes up resources, don't forget to enable it when your finished. I can't see any reason to use Norton if you are concerned about performance. I like AVG. There is a new package that AVG came out with, Anti-virus program and ad-aware programs. It's worth a try |

Keep the firewall on unless you have to turn it off.
If you don't have the exact aircraft that someone else is flying the Sim will substitute anything it wants. If you have forwarded the FS ports from your router to your computer where your flying from then you are safe. |

I never have problems using FSX while anti-virus Norton 2007 is running.
NEVER disable or turn off Norton unless you are installing new software.
