Has anyone come across a mission in which you can use an aircraft such as a Canadair CL-415 or the massive Martin Mars water bomber and put out a fire? I believe X-Plane has CL-415 in their sim, but what about FSX?
I have a couple of helo's, bell 205's, with working bambi buckets, with several skins, and a bell 214 with a belly tanker. Both the bambi bucket, and belly tanker drop retardent, (orange in color).
As for the planes used, The Lougheed Electra 188 is a good starting point. This is a retardent bomber used in Canada.
As for the Martin Mars, I'm working on them as we speak. I've never done this before, but I am trying my hand at converting them from fs2004.
If the Mars works, then I'll try the cl-215 and cl-415.
You may also want to find a few older versions of the b26. Airspray Ltd, a wild fire supression company in Canada still uses them for small actions and bird dogging.
As for the missions, I am working on them too. Once I get the smoke and flames to work, and input a computer model to simulate spread rates, and retardent effects, then I will be in a better position to recreate some some of the toughest battles ever waged against fire in the world.
Australia, Canada, Brazil, China, U.S., are all places I have been to fight the worst fires, and I will do my best to recreate these, as well as many other missions depicting real missions and real fires.
My first mission recreation will be the summer of '89, where 19.2 million acres of forest, tundra, and lakeland burned through Manitoba, and moved into Ontario Canada.
I'll repost here when I get closer to finishing these projects.
